Compliance Obligations

ReachSMS has a strict anti-spam policy for all of its clients in relation to any, and all, communication protocols. This means that we do not condone unsolicited SMS messages of any kind. All messages sent via our systems require some level of pre-existing consent. Consent takes many forms. For further information, please review the Spam Act 2003 via the Australian Communications and Media Authority site.

Non-compliance with any component of the Spam Act 2003 may result in suspension or cancellation of your account.

The ACMA requires that all broadcast messages must include the following information:

  • Identity of the sender; and
  • Means to opt-out from future correspondence

Note that the maximum message length is 160 characters (including the opt-out instructions).

  • This can be done, for example, by including: (Reply with STOP to opt-out) in the message
